I am from the Beach...

I am from beaches, from bikini's and flip-flop's.
I am from the backyard grill, sitting beside the rock-waterfall pool.
I am from the cocoa plant, and the mango tree i grew up climbing.

I am from Sundays, blonde hair, and eyes that change, from grandma's thin bones, dad's big bottom lip, and mom's petite frame.
I am from pom-pom's, and dad's restaurant in Naples.
From "Sisters are forever friends," and "It takes two to fight."

I am from non-denominational Christianity.
I'm from Naples Florida, steak, veggies, and potatoes.
From the divorce, the screaming, yelling, and fighting.

I am from water parks, gymnastics, national cheerleading, and modeling.
I am from Tiffany and Co. the jewelry that lay upon my mothers smooth tan skin, the jewelry I spent my first hours gazing at after birth.

I am from the ruby hugging my fingers that once hugged my mothers when she too, turned thirteen.

I am from the pine tree, I'm the last pine cone to fall, I am the ever green.

One of the Few Surviver's

It was Friday, March 11, 2011... I was only visiting my best friend in Japan, then again I guess it was the wrong time to visit.
It was 2:46, I was at the super market with my best friend, Kelly... we were planing on having a girls night out that night, so we HAD to buy chocolate, It was crucial to have chocolate in time of the party. So we went to the best Market if you looking for Chocolate, it had a copious amount. Everything was great, the banter among the workers in the market, the baby boy giggling his way out of the market, but then... out of nowhere... the ground started to shake so hard, it kept going, harder, and harder and harder, it felt as it someone was behind me pulling me back and forth, I could barley stand without falling down along with all the cups, cans, chip bags piling up on the floor falling from all the racks.
"AHHHHHHH!!" I heard Kelly scream, I look back, and there she is, my best friend crushed on the floor, with a whole column holding the market steady lied on her legs, she was stuck. I crawled over to her, dodging all objects falling from the racks, once I got to her, her leg was bleeding profusely. I took off my coat, and I tightly rapped it around her leg, a nice adept worker man comes crawling over to us, and not even needing to ask, forces the column off Kelly's leg, I took off my coat, and tightly wrap it around her leg soaking wet in bright red blood. The shaking continues, it hits harder and harder, leaving us on the ground, not even able to stand up. then... the ceiling crashes down on our heads, overlapping everything, and everyone left in the market, out scream was not audible, we waited there for a rescue team to come, we waited to see the azure we had missed.

Days had passed, crowded-up under a collapsed roof, starving. we were in pain, I refused to
even speak to Kelly, I had to save every little amount of energy i could.

We stayed put for another whole day, and I knew we couldn't make it any longer, so thank god, they arrived just in time, I cant explain the feeling, of knowing you are one of the few surviver's,
making you feel important, and most of all... lucky. The ambulance rushed us irremediably to the hospital, where we had to stay for a month... but once we got home, the first thing we did, was... a girls night out, with chocolate... OF COURSE!!!

The Diary of a Young Girl

By: Anne Frank

Reviewed by: Tiffany Pate

This coming of age memoir The Diary of a young girl Is a girls Diary. It is based on a young thirteen year-old Jewish girl who is living in the 1940’s when the Nazis were occupying Holland, so she is living in an old office as a hide-out.

Anne the young girl and her mom, dad, and big sister had to leave their home town (Amsterdam) and go into hiding, for a while until they had to move again, this time they go to an old office building as shelter, where Anne got her first diary, who she named “kitty”, she became so fond with it, she would put her deepest secrets in it, that no one could see, she never gave in to anyone, no one could see it, even if they tried.

Anne and her big sister Margot stayed with another Jewish family in hiding, Mr. and Mrs. Van Daan, along with their son Peter who is seventeen years old. At first Anne and Peter didn’t quite get along, then… Some feelings were grown. Peter and Anne become very close, and spent much time with each other, Anne knew the rules, no kissing a boy until she were to get married.

In this Novel Anne is turning into a young woman, she even gets her period which she talks about in her diary. At this moment Anne really likes Peter, and Peter really like Anne, they go secretly to the attic every once and a while, and talk, Anne would rest her head on his shoulder, and his head on hers… They got very close. Soon enough Anne couldn’t take it, all this time with the guy she really liked, she didn’t quite understand what was so horrible about kissing a guy before marriage, so she followed her heart, and leaned into the kiss, and it was a kiss she could never forget, her heart began to beat super fast, and her checks turned red, but she was scared, what if her parents found out, what would they do to her?

The Diary Of a Young Girl is an epistolary memoir, as a diary each date it has an entry of important things going on in her life, doubts, concerns, she even talks about going through puberty, and how it is affecting her.

I have noticed that Anne has come to know many things about herself, including how Anne is impatient because she knows she is suppose to wait to kiss for marriage, but she cant wait, she always has to rush into things.

I personally thought this book was very well written, and it is very relatable to teenage girls, but I do recommend buying the second version (the clean version) of the book if you are less than thirteen years old, because the real version has very descriptive words that should not be heard by a very young ear.

Lines I Loved:

“Mother nature makes me humble and prepared to face every blow courageously.”

“I can perfectly well remember that there was a time when a deep blue sky, the song of the birds, moonlight and flowers could never have kept me spellbound.”
